Adapting and consolidating

My first year of study in France was a rich and formative experience. It meant discovering a new culture and ways of working that were different from what I was used to. Arriving in Niort in August 2024, I found myself in an environment I barely knew. The first few weeks were crucial for adjusting, both academically and personally.

After earning my baccalauréat, it was essential for me to join a program that combined mathematics and computer science. The BUT in Data Science proved to be the ideal path. My final year of high school gave me a solid grounding in mathematics, which made it easier to follow what we covered in class.

Throughout the first semester, I kept the same rigor and work habits I had developed in high school. That discipline helped me achieve excellent results and rank among the top students in my class. In mathematics, statistics and probability, the first semester often felt like a review, since I had already covered most of the material in my final year of high school. In computer science, on the other hand, I built new skills, including working with a range of software tools and programming languages.

The second semester was particularly rewarding, both academically and personally. My results stayed broadly in line with the first semester, which shows a certain consistency in my work. Beyond the grades, this semester brought real progress in my skills. I consolidated what I had learned and developed new abilities, especially in computer science, mathematics and project management. That growth showed most clearly in the many projects I completed, which let me apply the concepts from class in practice.

From the start of my studies, I wanted to work in a field that truly engages me while understanding the meaning and purpose of what I was learning. This first year in data science helped me sketch out my academic and professional goals and confirmed that I had chosen the right path.

All in all, I see this first year as a positive one. Looking ahead, I'm aiming to join a company on a work-study basis from September 2025. Working in a professional setting would give me a better grasp of the practical challenges of collecting, analyzing and making use of data. That first contact with the field would be a decisive step in building my career, confronting me with the realities and responsibilities of the job.
